Do You Draw People?
The RP Drawing Prize: Revealing the Human, brought to you by The Royal Society of Portrait Painters, returns for its second year.
This is an opportunity for artists, designers and creatives whose work involves drawing, open to artists in the UK and internationally. This inaugural open call welcomes submissions in all drawing styles and techniques, providing a vibrant platform for bold, original, and thought-provoking work.
The RP is seeking submissions from artists who observe and depict people, in whatever form that happens to be. We are keen to explore and expand the idea of what a portrait can be, and because drawing is such an immediate, direct response to the human, we’re hoping to be surprised by the variety of responses.
‘It’s not as if an instinct which lies in the race of men from way before Sassetta and Giotto has run its course. It won’t. Don’t listen to the fools who say that pictures of people can be of no consequence…’ RB KITAJ
The RP Drawing Prize is open to creatives at all stages of their careers. A distinguished panel will select up to 120 works to be exhibited at The University of Hull Art Gallery.
Works which feature in the exhibition can be available for sale and the FBA Art Consultancy will be available to manage commission enquiries.
There is the chance to win The RP Drawing Prize of £5,000, as well as other prizes and awards.
