#Comingsoon:ANNUAL EXHIBITION 2025The Annual Exhibition will be on between Thursday 8 - Saturday 17 May, Open daily between 10am - 5pm@Mallgalleries Showcasing the very best painted and drawn portraits selected from national and international submissions. Today we share one of two portraits Joshua Waterhouse RP has showing in this years Annual Show which are part of a triptych of paintings of three brothers, James, Matthew and Thomas. On display at the RP will be the paintings of Matthew and Thomas. "The paintings were commissioned by the boys' father as a gift for their mother, who is still ignorant of their existence. She will see and learn about the existence of the portraits for the first time at the RP private view. I don't know much about the sitters to be honest - I only met them once. #Comingsoon:ANNUAL EXHIBITION 2025RP Toby Wiggins kindly shared some details about one out of two portraits he'll displaying in this years annual exhibition..."This little portrait was made over a period of about six months, in a number of very, very short sittings as naturally Ezra struggled to sitting for more than 20 minutes at a time and even then finding it hard to stay still. With this moving target, I found a way to fix in my mind a certain contour or shape, a colour or tone and more or less work from the memory of this. It was very gradual, but finally emerged as a likeness.
