Past President of the Royal Society of Portrait Pa Past President of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, RP @robinleehallartist's solo show is NOW OPEN @thelightboxwoking titled; The Luminous Brush! This show will display a selection of her paintings, prints and drawings. As well as portraits there will be still-life paintings and landscapes, all painted in the very ancient and luminous medium of egg tempera. When? ON NOW - 17th November 2024 Where? The Lightbox, Chobham Road, Woking GU21 4AA As well as oils, Robin works in the specialist medium of egg tempera, an early Renaissance painting technique that gives portraits a depth and luminosity, quite unlike any other medium. She has exhibited in and around London including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and the BP Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery. In 2010 she won the Ondaatje Prize for Portraiture and Gold Medal at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibition. In 2017 she collaborated with the National Portrait Gallery demonstrating traditional drawing techniques in a series of videos that were installed in ‘The Encounter’ exhibition. In recent years she has started to experiment with technology and draw portraits on her iPad. ...See you all there! An exhibition titled; 'Traces' featuring RP @david An exhibition titled; 'Traces' featuring RP @davidhcobley and Ceramicist Janene Waudby is NOW OPEN! Where? @whitechalkgallery in Devizes. When? On NOW - 5th October 2024 Open Tues - Sat, 10am - 5pm David has been drawing and painting since early childhood. He trained at Northampton and Liverpool Schools of Art before spending almost 10 years studying and working in Japan. In 1989 he was shortlisted for the BP Portrait Award and elected a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters in 1997, serving as its Honorary Secretary for four years. His portrait of Ken Dodd OBE was purchased by the National Portrait Gallery in 2005, and in 2010 he was commissioned to paint the Nobel Prize-winning scientist Sir Martin Evans for the Gallery’s permanent collection. In 2019 the BBC asked him to paint Sir David Attenborough as a celebration of his life in broadcasting. He has had solo shows of his work in London and Bath, and works from a studio in Devizes. "Here is one of my most recent portrait commissions and a few photographs of the final unveiling and surroundings. When the client first made contact with me we immediately hit it off and we bonded over our shared experiences. We were the same age, we both spent time living in Chelsea, and we both have three children. Unlike me he is handsome, and sophisticated, has impeccable style, and taste, and is rich, but nobody is perfect. For various reasons, we decided to stage the painting in a private members club in Mayfair and I'm glad we did as I think it worked out really well. The colors and shapes of the canopy and the buildings in the background create a lively dynamic composition that returns your eye to the face and hands. In 1987 he decided to pursue painting full time and at the age of 17 so he undertook a 10 year project to develop his work through self-directed study. Winning the Carroll Foundation Award in 1998 helped bring his work to a much wider audience. Election to the RP four years later established Andy fully as a portrait painter. RP @markroscoeart has shared the journey for his recent commission and unveiling...!"Here is one of my most recent portrait commissions and a few photographs of the final unveiling and surroundings. When the client first made contact with me we immediately hit it off and we bonded over our shared experiences. We were the same age, we both spent time living in Chelsea, and we both have three children. Unlike me he is handsome, and sophisticated, has impeccable style, and taste, and is rich, but nobody is perfect. For various reasons, we decided to stage the painting in a private members club in Mayfair and I'm glad we did as I think it worked out really well. The colors and shapes of the canopy and the buildings in the background create a lively dynamic composition that returns your eye to the face and hands.
