He was her biggest influence, and indeed her 2010 solo exhibition <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.susanryder.co.uk\/antartica-to-china\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018Antarctica to China\u2019<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, followed in the footsteps of the journey he made in the 1930\u2019s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>She discovered Vermeer and Vuillard through her art school teacher Bernard Dunstan RA. She studied at the Byam Shaw School of Painting in London from 1960-64, and was elected a member of the New English Art Club and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. She was Vice President of The RP from 2002 to 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Susan Ryder has been commissioned to paint portraits of a wide range of people, most notably, in 1981, H.R.H.
