I am a Kent/London based artist specializing in Portraiture, working mainly in Oil and Charcoal.
I have spent the past five years studying at Charles H Cecil Studios in Florence where my main interest is in painting the human form, be it portrait or figure, from life to the scale of life. I try to capture the flow of light and gain an impression of the person through the medium of oil paint, something that cannot be obtained by copying a photograph. I work under natural light and observe from a distance using the “sight size” method as it is believed the likes of Reynolds, Lawrence and later Sargent would have used.
The majority of my work has been completed whilst studying and teaching at Charles H Cecil Studios in Florence, Italy.
