2019 Annual Exhibition

The characters portrayed, as much as their portrayal, contribute to the enjoyment of this exhibition of nearly 200 of the finest recent portraits by over 100 artists.

This year there is a special display of works by students from five Scottish art schools. Each art school was invited to nominate one student working in portraiture for inclusion in this year’s Annual Exhibition.

As a preview of next year’s extra show at Watts Gallery, you will also be able to compare a historic portrait: ‘Lillie Langtry. The Dean’s Daughter’ by the early member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, G F  Watts, with today’s portraits.

Save the date and come and see if you can spot famous faces from music, theatre and politics, among the portraits by the best contemporary portrait painters working today.
